Hedy Watrous began her Kempo training in 1998, received her Shodan (first degree black belt) in June, 2006, and received her Nidan (second degree black belt) in 2008. From the beginning of her training, Hedy loved the martial arts and everything it entailed. This interest led Hedy to study not only external martial arts but also various internal martial arts. Hedy currently trains in Kyoshu Jujitsu and is working towards her Black belt in this art. In addition to this she currently studies Tai Chi and has been practicing Reiki for 5 years.
Hedy not only loves kempo but has traveled to Vancouver Canada to study Shaolin Kung Fu with Grandmaster Chang. Hedy has taught numerous Women’s self defense classes and has a large following of cardio kickboxing students. This program has been an ongoing success for 7 years. Hedy believes in practical and useful weapons training and teaches various Kuboton techniques that were handed down to her from her relative Soke Tak Kubota who founded the art of Go Soku Ryu.
Hedy is an active member of her community. She is a member of the rotary club and participates in many philanthropic projects both locally and worldwide to improve the lives of people in impoverished communities. Hedy is the proprietor of the Whistle Stop in Deep River a successful restaurant, which opened 15 years ago. In addition Hedy enjoys foreign languages. Hedy is fluent in French and studies German and Italian.
