Sensei Kim Kleiman is currently a 3rd Degree Black Belt in the Kempo Karate System. Kim began training in Kempo Karate at USSD in 1997. By 1999, she had left to study Kempo at Valley Shore Martial arts, earning her 1st degree black belt in 2001, her 2nd degree black belt in 2004, and her 3rd degree black belt in 2008. Kim has studied many other styles: Wing Chun Kung Fu for two years, Tae Kwon Do for two years, grappling for seven years, and has taken adrenal stress training from Peyton Quinn. Kim keeps current on the topics of self defense and traditional martial arts by attending various seminars and contributing to many martial art forums.

Kim believes fitness is an important aspect of the martial arts. Kim has both taught and participated in many fitness programs and was certified as an instructor by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America approximately ten years ago. Kim has taught as a cardio/fitness instructor and has taught Cardio Kickboxing. In addition to teaching, Kim likes to keep current on today's popular fitness trends. She is an avid pilates student and believes strength training is an important part of total fitness.

Kim has also taught women’s self defense courses at the local YMCA, John Winthrop Junior High School, and Valley Regional High School. She has also taught a traditional Kempo program at Essex Elementary School. Kim is also a volunteer rape crisis counselor and has taught many fitness classes. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island.
